Collabra is a cloud-based learning management system and an interactive video/audio practice platform. Collabra provides a suite of learning management tools. Teachers can access Collabra through a free trial account. Students and teachers can access Collabra through their school or school district’s account/license.
What Information is Collected?
IP Addresses, Operating System, Browser Type, and Referring URLs are tracked with our Website logs. This information is collected for security purposes and is no way used to detect the user’s identification.
Free Trial Visitors: For teachers signing up for a free trial account, they are required to provide us with an email address, first and last name, city, state, and organization (school/site name). This information will be used to 1) send emails for set up instructions, and/or to reply to any questions you may have, or 2) send you information about new products and/or promotions. We do not sell or share our email listings to outside companies for any reason.
Subscribers (Teachers): Subscribers are required to provide email, first name, last name, city, state, and organization (school/site name). This information is necessary so that we may 1) set up an account for you which will allow you to access the Teacher Dashboard, 2) send emails to reply to any questions you may have, 3) send you information about new products and/or promotions, or 4) in some cases, we may need to send you information about scheduled application server maintenance or other support matters. We do not sell or share any of this information to outside companies for any reason. The following Personal Information can be optionally entered by instructors includes: Bio, Gender, Birthday, Phone, Address
Students: Students gain access to secure application servers using a password protected ID provided to them by the instructor. We collect information about the student’s session such as cumulative practice time, assessment scores, numbers of videos/audios recorded, and other performance data. This information is collected and organized to help the instructor make observations to improve the learning process. To that end, the instructor may optionally enter student names on the servers. These procedures and technologies are to improve the student learning process and are in compliance with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA). The following Personal Information may be optionally entered by Students: First and last name, email address, city, state, and birthday.
Additional Information: Teacher and student data is the only information gathered. Once a subscription expires, this data is archived on Collabra’s secure severs in the event the teacher re-subscribes in the future, and wants access to the stored data. If the teacher or school desires this information to be permanently deleted, the school or teacher can email firstname.lastname@example.org. and type “delete stored data” in the subject area, and include your Techer ID that was issued by Collabra. If a teacher, parent or eligible student desires to challenge the accuracy of the student or teacher data being gathered, the school or teacher can email email@example.com and formally inquire.
Under age 13: Collabra requires schools, districts, or teachers (on behalf of the parents or legal guardians of students under the age of 13) to provide consent for the online collection of personal information of the student under the age of 13 through Collabra. In order to register to use Collabra, students must use an access code provided to them by their teacher.
Collabra collects limited personal information from minor students only where that student’s school, district, or teacher has contracted with Collabra to collect personal information for the use and benefit of the learning environment. This information is not shared outside of the school or with any third parties except those needed for the provision of the service as outlined in this policy. Students of any age cannot share their profiles publicly outside of their classroom or school.
Instructors can give students grades, and provide comments to students. Students can submit assignments, add comments and take online assessments. Instructors or students can record audio or video and upload or attach these recordings to our system, that are placed directly on the Teacher Dashboard. None of this information is shared with any third parties without proper consent
For the purpose of improving and enhancing its service, Collabra collects and analyzes data on how the system is used in the aggregate (how groups of people use Collabra). As true of most Web Sites, we gather certain information automatically and store it in log files. This information may include internet protocol (IP) addresses, browser type, internet service provider (ISP), referring/exit pages, operating system, date/time stamp, and/or clickstream data. We also use tracking technologies from third party service providers to gather information regarding the date and time of visits and the information interacted with. We may link this automatically-collected data to personally identifiable information. We do not share this information with third parties.
Information on individual usage of the system, including but not limited to individual IP addresses, may be analyzed on a case-specific basis to resolve a technical difficulty or to assist in resolving or investigating any misuse of the service; also, such individual usage information may be furnished to your school if your school requests such information to assist in the investigation of fraudulent, abusive, or criminal activity or any other use of Collabra that violates your school’s rules or policies.
Cookies, Beacons, and other Similar Technologies: Technologies such as cookies, beacons, tags and scripts are used by Collabra and our tracking utility partners who provide online customer support and video management. These technologies are used to make it easier for you to navigate our site, to store your passwords so you don’t have to enter it more than once, analyzing trends, administering the site, tracking users’ movements throughout the site and to gather demographic information about our user base as a whole. We may receive reports based on the use of these technologies by these companies on an individual as well as aggregated basis.
Local Storage Objects: We use Local Storage Objects (LSOs) such as HTML5 Local Storage/IndexDB, etc… to store content information and preferences. Third parties with whom we partner to provide certain features on our site or to display advertising for Collabra on other sites based upon your Web browsing activity use LSOs such as HTML5 or Flash to collect and store information. Various browsers may offer their own management tools for removing HTML5 LSOs.
Review and Deletion of Your Child’s Information
Parents have the right to refuse the site further contact with their child and to have access to their child’s information and to have it deleted by contacting the school administrator.
Parents have the right to consent to the site’s use of the child’s personal information without having to consent to its disclosure of that information to third parties by contacting the school administrator.
If yours or your child’s personally identifiable information changes, or if you no longer desire our service, you may contact Customer Support via firstname.lastname@example.org. We will respond to your request within 30 days.
We will retain your information for as long as your account is active or archived, or as needed to provide you services. If you wish to cancel your account or request that we no longer use your information to provide you services, contact us via email@example.com. We will retain and use your information as necessary to comply with our legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements.

3rd Party Information Dissemination: Collabra does not share or sell customer, visitor, subscriber, or student information to 3rd parties.
